🧁 Ingredients
Cupcakes
1 box yellow cake mix
3 large eggs 🥚
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water 💧
Pastry Cream Filling
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened 🧈
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
2 large egg yolks 🌼
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Ganache
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips 🍫
1/4 cup heavy cream
👩🍳 Directions
1️⃣ Bake the Cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line muffin tin with cupcake liners.
Fill liners 2/3 full with cake batter.
Bake 18–22 minutes, then cool on a wire rack. 🧁✨
2️⃣ Make the Pastry Cream
In a saucepan, whisk butter, sugar, and flour until smooth.
Slowly whisk in milk, then egg yolks.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick like pudding.
Add vanilla extract.
Cover with plastic wrap (touching the surface) and chill completely. ❄️
3️⃣ Make the Ganache
Combine chocolate chips + heavy cream in a heatproof bowl.
Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time.
Mix until smooth and glossy.
Let rest 5 minutes to thicken. 🍫✨
4️⃣ Assemble
Core each cooled cupcake using a knife or apple corer.
Fill the center with cold pastry cream. 💛
Drizzle thick chocolate ganache over the top.
